Research themes: Veerle Linseele is postdoctoral research fellow of the FWO-Flanders, affiliated with the RBINS and the KU Leuven, and part-time lecturer in Environmental Archaeology at Ghent University. She is an archaeozoologist and has been analysing bone remains of all groups of vertebrates, but mainly of fish and mammals. Her research is focussing on early food production and early complex societies in West and northeastern Africa. She has conducted fieldwork in Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Sudan and Syria but mainly in Egypt. For a list of publications see
